It’s already been a month since Nicușor Dan’s visit to the US has been talked about, described and analyzed; all kinds of revelations are being made, and speculation is being made. Which, how? Those who want to support him say, “Wow, what a visit it was.” The others, who want to malign him, of course highlight some aspects that do not benefit the current president. Unfortunately, geopolitical conclusions of this Romanian presidential expedition to the US have not yet appeared in the public sphere. Somehow, it is understood, from the level of those who comment, but also think, that we went as oxen and came as cows (to put it bluntly), but still no elements can be discerned that would clarify whether and what changed after this visit. In order to clarify, we would have needed either a press conference by Nicușor Dan or explanations from Marius Lazurcă. That was not the case; nothing like that happened. Lazurcă tried to make some statements on television but got lost in secondary justifications. In this way, today we are talking about the falsification of the Nicușor Dan – Donald Trump photo (if it is true that something like that happened, then we are in Hospital 9). We are also talking about the fact that Marco Rubio does not believe that he had an official meeting with Nicușor Dan, or we are also talking about the fact that Trump’s bodyguard reprimanded Nicușor when he went to shake hands with Trump once more. And, from my point of view, this topic is one of great gravity, and not because ours wanted to say something to Trump at the end; it’s very serious because we’re talking about American modesty in action.
Now, regarding the visit. I told you last happened this week, from my unofficial sources, that Mark Rutte and Viktor Orbán were the two political leaders who pushed Nicușor Dan towards participating in the Board of Peace, each through different levers, but also with different interests. The Dutchman promised Trump, his so-called “Daddy”, that NATO’s eastern flank would be present through Romania, that is, through the presence of Nicușor, and the Hungarian Orbán has an interest in not remaining isolated in this region of ours, plus he also has an electoral interest in the upcoming elections and where Hungarians in Romania vote. The surprise came in the chapter of Nicușor Dan’s meeting with Marco Rubio, one that was not initially announced. And we would not have learned about how this meeting happened if Paolo Zampolli, Trump’s emissary for various projects, had not assumed the merit of this so-called meeting through a post on Instagram, initially noticed by Solid News.
We have been following Zampolli since last year, since we noticed that the American of Italian origin had become the gateway to Washington D.C. for Romanian ministers, from Alexandru Nazare to Bogdan Ivan from Energy. As for you, you have been acquainted with Zampolli, Goldist friends, since November 2025, when I also described him in the “Man of the Day” column.
Well, in the post a few days ago, Zampolli added: he explained to us that Nicușor Dan is “My Good Friend”, but also that an agreement of over 400 million dollars was signed between the USA and Romania, an agreement that Romanians know nothing about; it can be read, of course, that we Romanians are giving money. And, thus, serious analysts deduced that this would represent a kind of payment for the visit and meetings in America.
On the other hand, you understand that it can’t even be about friendship, as Zampolli says. I have nothing against the Milanese, I might even like him, but, from my point of view, I believe that Trump has allocated his old friend a place in the world where he can have fun, to satisfy himself, and, in addition to Romania, Zampolli also has in his sights states like Greece, Serbia, but also others (be careful!) with uncertain status in terms of relations with the Trump regime; that is, there is work to be done on rapprochement, that’s what they say. The model is old among Americans, it shouldn’t surprise you. Obama, in the past, practiced it with Joe Biden, when he was his vice president: he allocated the whole of Eastern Europe to the future senile in the White House, under guidance, and that’s how we and others got into trouble. I won’t give any more details, because you know them.
