Ideology kills Olympic Spirit

Athletes from Russia and Belarus have been banned from this year’s Olympics in Paris, only the ‘neutral’ athletes allowed to participate – what insanity! Moreover, the ecological mayor of the city of lights, Anne Hidalgo, said that she would not like to see a Russian step foot in Paris. Are athletes, swimmers, handball players, volleyball players, tennis players, high-performance judokas, with the red-white-and-blue flag on their chests, stigmatized by the International Olympic Committee, unable to address the Anti-Discrimination Committee? The sports court in Lausanne – TAS – decided that Russians are not discriminated against. But recently, the French Parliament voted a law that prohibits the segregation of a person based on their hairstyle. Can the European Convention on Human Rights not be invoked in defense of Russian competitors? When judging based on ideological reasons, justice is destroyed. Is there an international norm of segregation? In a world flooded with diversity and the fight for the right of hair to be combed upwards, a number of athletes are discriminated against and all the moral courts of political correctness are silent. The ancient Olympics were held during the Persian and Peloponnesian wars, while only the modern Olympics were canceled during the First and Second World Wars.

Extrapolating the destruction imposed on Russian players, in other times of wars and other aggressors, we do not recall any Olympic forum denying American athletes the right to participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, on the grounds that the Pentagon, together with its allies, invaded Iraq? World judo has been sponsored for decades by the Russian president. The International Federation of this sport is based in Vienna, and the European one, in Budapest. One is led by an Austrian, another by a Hungarian.

The first principle of the judo player claims that „I will always be the master of my thoughts and cultivate only good intentions. In the judo hall, I will control my mental states so as not to make my work and that of my colleagues difficult.” Why does Vizer blacken his soul?

If the „Putinist” Gușa is no longer in power in the Romanian Judo Federation, will he be labeled less Putinist? Will there be more rubles in the secret accounts? Athletes must not suffer from misunderstandings outside the playing field, nor be discriminated against or emotionally disturbed.

In life, all people have started off with equal rights.

The edict imposed by the International Olympic Committee remains a black mark on the face of the great competition with laurels, podiums and glory.

Only Hitler and his criminal regime imposed collective guilt. How can you allow Russian or Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics only if they come as ‘neutrals’?Or even ban them altogether, as Sebestian Coe decided, in track and field? But the doped can enter alongside the men with tweezed eyebrows, arm in arm, without providing urine samples?
