During a thematic session on Ukraine’s preparation for EU accession, Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mrs. Luminița Odobescu, lauded the Ukrainian authorities for their reform efforts under extraordinarily difficult conditions, exacerbated by the ongoing war of aggression initiated by the Russian Federation.

Minister Odobescu reiterated Romania’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s European aspirations. She emphasized Romania’s advocacy at all levels and in all European forums for the official opening of accession negotiations with both Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. This, she noted, would send a clear signal of long-term commitment to the societies of these two states.

Highlighting the importance of sustained reform implementation to align with European norms and standards, Minister Odobescu offered Romania’s expertise based on its own experiences with EU accession. This gesture underscores the collaborative spirit within the European community to support Ukraine’s journey towards integration.

The Berlin Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine marked a significant step forward in the international effort to support Ukraine’s recovery and integration into the European Union. By focusing on mobilizing the private sector, maintaining social cohesion, and building resilient communities, the conference set the stage for a comprehensive and sustainable approach to Ukraine’s reconstruction.
