U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed on Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a “bridging proposal” from Washington, marking a significant diplomatic breakthrough. The goal of this plan is to resolve the deadlocks that have impeded efforts to reach a truce in Gaza. Blinken underlined how crucial it is that Hamas follow suit in order to advance the peace process. Blinken’s statement came after an intensive day of diplomacy in Israel, which included a 2.5-hour meeting with Netanyahu. The discussions centered around finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict and exploring avenues for a sustainable ceasefire. The U.S. Secretary of State described this initiative as potentially the best and possibly the last viable opportunity to secure a deal.
