Romanian Political Manoeuvres: Prime Minister Ciolacu’s Accord with Coldea’s Strategies and the Wary Tale of Vizer’s Subordination to Putin

If I had known that a simple announcement about the possibility of my candidacy for the Bucharest mayorship would generate such nervousness and fear in PSD (Social-Democratic Party, center-left ruling party in Romania) and PNL (National Liberal Party, center-right party of our president) level, then I would have agreed to have my name circulated even earlier, because any confusion at the level of this government machine that mocks Romania is welcome and salutary. How did I notice this and why do I suspect that Ciolacu (current PSD PM) is calling on Coldea (former Romanian Intelligence Director) on my former friend and former Romanian but presently Austrian Marius Vizer’s chain? On Tuesday evening, George Simion announced on Anca Alexandrescu’s TV show that he made me a proposition to run as an independent candidate with his party’s support (AUR, nationalist and gaining a lot of traction in the current election) for our capital’s mayor’s office. It’s important news anyway, the possible appearance of Cozmin Gușă in a competition with the likes of Nicușor Dan, Piedone, Cîrstoiu, a Gușă supported by AUR, the party of the moment and the only one on the rise, should have attracted the attention of the media, if the media’s goal would be related to increasing traffic and audience. From Tuesday until yesterday, however, the press controlled by Ciolacu and/or Coldea did not even mention the event, let alone debate the new context of the fight in Bucharest. They could at least say that I was a nobody, or something very harmful, or declare me as a loser in the race, but they preferred to ignore the matter, although the only topic all news sources debated non stop in the past week was the Bucharest race. My friend Dan Andronic from EVZ media was the nicest though, who in order to throw a brick at my head and be of use to our current rulers in gratitude for all of the money he receives from them, quickly inserted a debate and analysis of my candidacy into Turcescu’s show on Wednesday at noon and organized an online vote, where I should have come out humiliated and in last place. However, to my surprise, the result of the vote was as follows: Cîrstoiu 8%, Nicușor Dan 19%, Gușă 32%, Piedone 41%.
