The meeting was led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The secretary-general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and foreign ministers from Qatar, Palestine, Jordan, and Turkiye convened at this high-profile meeting to discuss the current events in the beleaguered Gaza Strip. The discussion underscored the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis and political turmoil that have long plagued Gaza. The committee members expressed their collective appreciation for Spain’s recent decision to recognize the State of Palestine. This move was hailed as a crucial step in the international community’s efforts to secure Palestinians’ rights and to promote peace and stability in the region.

Prime Minister Sanchez reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He emphasized the importance of upholding international law and human rights, advocating for a peaceful resolution that ensures justice and security for all parties involved.
The meeting also served as a platform for the committee members to reiterate their dedication to combating extremism and violence. In a time marked by increasing global instability and violations of international norms, the officials stressed the need for a coordinated and resilient approach to peacebuilding. They vowed to continue their efforts to promote dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation among nations.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan highlighted the significance of such multilateral engagements in fostering a unified stance on critical issues like the Gaza situation. The foreign ministers from Qatar, Palestine, Jordan, and Turkiye echoed these sentiments, calling for sustained international support to alleviate the suffering in Gaza and to pave the way for a viable two-state solution. They emphasized the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict and urged the global community to hold accountable those responsible for perpetuating violence and injustice.
The secretary-general of the OIC, representing the collective voice of the Islamic world, underscored the organization’s commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East. He applauded Spain’s proactive stance and urged other nations to follow suit in recognizing Palestine and advocating for a fair resolution to the conflict.
As the meeting concluded, there was a shared resolve among the participants to continue leveraging diplomatic channels and international forums to advance the cause of peace in Gaza and the broader Middle East. The dialogue in Madrid marked a significant step in reinforcing international solidarity with the Palestinian people and in striving for a future free of conflict and oppression.
This engagement exemplifies the power of collaborative diplomacy in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. It reaffirms the belief that through persistent and united efforts, a just and lasting peace can be achieved, not only for Gaza but for all regions grappling with the consequences of conflict and instability.
