The Kursk region of Russia, situated on the border with Ukraine, has once again found itself in the crosshairs of escalating conflict. On Wednesday, the region was the target of missile and drone attacks, following a significant armed incursion by Ukrainian forces the day before. These actions have resulted in the tragic loss of five lives and left dozens injured, further intensifying the already strained relations between the two nations. Regional acting governor Alexei Smirnov took to Telegram to provide updates on the latest developments. He reported that anti-aircraft defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down two Ukrainian missiles aimed at the Kursk region. In addition to the missile threats, three Ukrainian drones were also neutralized on Wednesday morning.
