Elon Musk, the influential CEO of Tesla and owner of the social media platform X, made headlines late Thursday with his announcement that he will attend a rally for former U.S. President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. The rally, scheduled for October 5, marks a significant event, as it is held at the same location where Trump survived an assassination attempt in July. Musk’s decision to attend and his vocal support for Trump underscore a notable shift in his political stance, aligning more closely with right-wing politics. Musk’s endorsement of Trump came after the former president survived a shocking assassination attempt on July 13 in Butler. During that incident, a gunman, later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, opened fire at the rally, resulting in the death of a rallygoer and grazing Trump in the right ear. The gunman was ultimately neutralized by a Secret Service sniper. Musk’s public support for Trump, calling him “tough,” seems to be rooted in admiration for Trump’s resilience and ability to withstand such dire circumstances.
