The General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia has initiated a formal correspondence with several Western countries, urging them to adhere to their international responsibilities in delivering justice. The communication, which was disclosed on Wednesday, specifically pertains to the ongoing investigations into the September 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions and various “acts of terrorism” that have occurred within Russian territory. The Nord Stream pipelines, which have played a significant role in transporting Russian natural gas to Western Europe, were significantly damaged due to a series of explosions last year. The incident not only disrupted the energy supply but also raised serious concerns about the security of critical infrastructure. The outreach by Russian authorities comes amid their growing dissatisfaction with what they perceive as the inconclusive nature of the investigations led by foreign powers. The General Prosecutor’s Office has reported that the letters were dispatched to Cyprus, France, Germany, and the United States, all of which are believed to have a stake in the matter either through territorial jurisdiction or through involvement in the investigations.
