On the special occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, the 9th China-Vietnam Border Defense Friendship Exchange was officially launched on April 11. The event was carried out in an orderly manner in relevant areas and ports of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and Lang Son Province, Vietnam, serving as a vivid testament to the continuation and elevation of the friendly relations between the two countries. Since its first launch in 2014, the border defense friendly exchange activity has been a key action to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries. Over the years, it has served as a solid bridge, making indispensable contributions to maintaining security and stability in the border areas of the two countries and promoting regional prosperity and development. Compared with previous activities, this exchange event has a longer duration of one week and a more diverse range of activities. The joint medical consultation, an important part of this event, was held simultaneously in China and Vietnam from April 11th to 13th. The medical teams, composed of military medical personnel from both countries, adhered to the humanitarian spirit of saving lives and treating the wounded. They adopted a combination of on-site consultation and home visits to reach deep into border villages.

During these few days, they provided medical services to over 3,100 local residents, offered free check-ups to more than 1,300 people, and distributed over 2,000 boxes of medicine, truly bringing care and health to the local people.
The cultural exchange among border residents was also rich and colorful. The cultural performances, in various forms such as singing, dancing, and drama, showcased the unique cultural charm of the two countries; the sports competitions, in a friendly competitive atmosphere, ignited everyone’s enthusiasm and vitality; and the friendly village activities allowed the border residents of the two countries to have deeper interactions and exchanges, with neighborhood friendship warming up in the laughter and joy.
On the morning of April 13th, the Vietnamese naval vessel formation participating in the 38th joint patrol in the Beibu Gulf visited Beihai, Guangxi for the first time and was warmly welcomed by the Chinese side. After the vessels docked, the officers and soldiers from both sides actively interacted. They visited each other’s vessels, shared professional skills and training experiences during exchanges, and also held tug-of-war and ball games and other cultural and sports activities. These activities not only enriched the lives of the officers and soldiers but also deepened their mutual understanding, making the friendship between the two countries’ military personnel even stronger. According to the plan, the naval vessel formations of both sides will set sail again on the 16th to continue the joint patrol mission in the Beibu Gulf, safeguarding peace and tranquility in this sea area.
The 9th border defense friendly exchange activity between China and Vietnam is a vivid practice of friendly cooperation in the defense field between the two countries and also an inheritance and promotion of the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam. In the future, it is believed that the two countries will take this event as an opportunity to continuously expand the scope of cooperation, deepen the connotation of cooperation, and jointly contribute more to regional peace and development.
